The story of Covington Manor is filled with more than 120 years of history. It began in 1898 as the family home of Albert and Clara Amundson, along with their five children.
Following the passing of Albert and Clara in 1922, the home became known as the Oak Lodge, where it
served as a boarding house for many years until it was purchased by Don and Carol Simon in 2002.
Covington Manor is Carol’s namesake.
The pair lovingly restored the home to its former glory, taking inspiration for the interior from Monet's
home in France.
Over the next two decades, Covington Manor became part of their legacy. Thousands of happy guests enjoyed the Victorian charm, the expansive grounds, and personable and charming customer service.
But as with every good story, each chapter must come to a close, and in 2021, the house again changed
hands. This time to us, the Carmody family. As the new owners, we take inspiration from Carol and Don’s
story and design. We will continue to honor the names of the rooms and the energy they hold as we
now lovingly restore the home once again.
Today, the beautiful Victorian boasts the original hardwood floors, interior oak cabinetry and woodwork,
as well as the cathedral ceilings, original pocket doors and door knobs, as well as both original and
introduced period antiques.
But rest assured, the Covington Manor has been appointed with all the modern amenities. A wonderful
step back in time, but filled with the luxuries of today.
We love to support local and
will continue to collaborate with
small businesses to keep things
exciting for our guests.
We source nearly all of our
goodies from the area, including
premium toiletries, picnic baskets, gift boxes and craft
kits. We’ll also recommend our
favorite things to do and see.
We want to offer something
truly memorable, by providing
fresh and creative events and
experiences. We can organize
high teas, picnics, craft days or
slumber parties.
Our customized approach
means that we can be as hands
on - or hands off - as you like.
Recharge your mind and reset
your senses with a comfortable
stay that feels like just home,
but a little more luxurious. Little
luxuries include a sound
machine, aroma diffuser and
spa kits.
You’ll love our clean and crisp
rooms, with daily profesional
housekeeping.
We bought Covington Manor not out of logic, or business sense, but out of love.
I have always dreamed of having a B&B, event space and retreat business, and when I first saw Covington
Manor, I just knew it was our future. When I took my family out there, I could see it in my husband’s
eyes, he felt it too! As a history buff and green thumb, he couldn’t help but be enamoured with the
property, just as I had been.
Even our son Tatum was enchanted, and I think we could both visualize it then... our boy growing up in
this beautiful home, with room to play and garden, while he learned the value of good work ethic and met
people from near and far.
As a family, we want to live a full life that is exciting and ever changing. A life filled with passion and
creativity. And most of all, we want to live a life where we can bring joy into other’s lives. Covington
Manor seemed like the perfect place to do that.
As simple at that, we sold our home in the suburbs and moved in.
With my passion for thrifting and infinity for antiques, Together we’ve revived and redesigned the
Manor. But our work is not done. We have endless creative ideas to take the B&B experience to another
level through tailored experiences and customizable options.
We take pride in the details. The fresh breakfasts. The luxury linens. And the unparalleled service that we
aim to deliver every single guest.
We hope that just like the Amundson family and the Simon family, Covington Manor will become part of
our family legacy. And we would love for you to be a part of that.
We look forward to seeing you soon,
